About the Plug-in

The plug-in allows direct communication between FileMaker Pro and the MoneyWorks small business accounting package. There are three plug-ins, one for Windows and one for Mac Classic, and one for OS X. The plug-ins operate on FileMaker Pro 5, 5.5, 6 and 7 (although clearly the Mac Classic plug-in won't operate in FMP7). The included tutorial file is for FileMaker Pro 7.

How the Plug-in operates is discussed in the FileMaker tutorial file. Start this by double-clicking "MoneyWorks Sample.fp7" (after having installed the plug-ins -- see below). The tutorial is designed to explain how to use the plug-in, and starts with the simple extraction of information directly from MoneyWorks and finishes with sending a batch of invoices created in FileMaker back to MoneyWorks.

MoneyWorks Requirements

The plug-in will run fine with the MoneyWorks Gold demo version (downloadable from www.cognito.co.nz), and also MoneyWorks Express.

Installation

The Mac plug-in is called "MoneyWorks FM Plugin", and this needs to be put into the "Extensions" folder (in the FileMaker Pro 7 folder), or in the "FileMaker Extensions" if you are using an older version of FileMaker Pro.

The Windows plug-in is called "MWKSCOM.FMX", and this needs to be put into the "Extensions" folder (in the FileMaker Pro 7 directory), or the "System" directory if you are using an older version of FileMaker Pro.

To allow FileMaker to send information to MoneyWorks, an "Import Map" is required. This file, "MWFM Trans Import Map.impo", needs to be placed into the "Import Maps" folder in the "MoneyWorks Custom Plug-ins" folder. Instructions for doing this are given in the FileMaker tutorial.
